How the list is made
Who qualifies: games whose full Steam release came in 2026 after a period in Early Access, with at least 1,000 user reviews and at least 90% of them positive. A game counts as an Early Access exit when its first Steam review is at least 15 days older than its release date, or, without review history, when IGDB dates it earlier and it carries the Early Access tag.
Every number comes from Steam user reviews. Nobody picks the games or votes on them: the same rules run for every game in our catalogue.
Games are ranked by the lower bound of the 95% Wilson score interval for their share of positive reviews. In plain terms, the rank says how sure we can be that most players like the game. A small game at 98% positive can rank above a huge one at 95%, and size alone never wins.
Left out of every list: adult-only games, games still in Early Access, old games re-released under a new Steam listing (IGDB dates them three or more years earlier), extra editions of the same game, and desktop apps (Utilities or Desktop Companion among the game's top five Steam tags).
The lists are recomputed every six hours until January 5, 2027. On that day the 2026 lists become final.
What this is, and what it isn't
These are rankings by a published formula, not awards from a jury or an editorial team. imho.run is a game recommender. We publish the lists because our data answers a common question: which of this year's games do players rate highest?
No developer or publisher paid for a place or asked for one, and none can.
Developers and publishers: if you would rather your game were not listed, write to [email protected] and we will take it off at the next update.
